Quick guide on how to use BeReal app

Two police officers have been removed from active duties and had their guns taken away after posting a social media post which appears to show one point their gun at the other as they sit at their desks.

A NSW Police spokeswoman confirmed to news.com.au they are investigating the image which was posted to the social media platform BeReal.

“The officers have been identified and their firearms secured,” she said.

“Both officers, who are attached to a Police Area Command within South West Metropolitan Region, have been placed on administrative duties.”

The image is understood to have been posted to the photo-sharing app that allows users to post one photo per day in real-time, using both the front and back cameras of a smartphone.

It appears to have been taken inside a police station and shows two smiling police officers in uniform.

It is unclear whether the officer’s settings were set to private or public, but it somehow started to circulate on social media.

The NSW Police social media guidelines state that employees must not post anything that “may bring the NSW Police Force into disrepute, or otherwise embarrass the agency”.
