Twitter comedians cast Tony Abbott in a farcical movie of his political life
HE’S often accused of putting on an act. Now Twitter users are casting the PM in the movie of his own political life, using the hashtag #Abbottmovies. It’s hilarious.
HE’S often accused of acting a part on the political stage.
Now Twitter comedians are casting Tony Abbott in the movie of his own life.
The hashtag #Abbottmovies is trending in Australia, with users coming up with some hilarious suggestions for Hollywood remakes of the PM’s greatest gaffes.
Coming so soon after the spill-that-wasn’t, the irreverent jokes are unlikely to be received with much amusement by the Prime Minister.

Much of the wordplay focused on Abbott’s unpopularity, with ideas including No Country For Polled Men, Voyage to the Bottom of the Barrel and The Last and The Furious.
Others resorted to movie-themed name-calling, with The Big Dill, Clueless and The Lizard of Oz among the choicest insults. Some went even further, mocking up famous movie posters with the faces of Abbott and his party.
The Shady Bunch (or the Cabinet to you and me) didn’t escape mockery either, with Joe Hockey coming in for a particularly hard time, featuring alongside the PM in the Australian version of Dumb and Dumber and in his own blockbuster, Crouching Taxman Hidden Hockey.
Government policies were directly targeted too: The Grinch who Stole Christmas listed Abbott’s most unpopular cuts, Honey, I Shrank the Economy did what it said on the tin and The Farce That Launched a Thousand (Japanese) Submarines looked at the latest decision to come under fire.
It may be childish, but the trend doesn't look good for Australia’s leader.
