Attn. singles: There’s a big change coming to Tinder. The popular dating app has just released a cheeky new feature called Super Like.
But what does this mean for your swiping tendencies?
Tinder users have traditionally had the choice of swiping right or swiping left on a person’s profile, but will now have the option of swiping up, which indicates a “Super Like”, or heightened level of interest.
But there’s a catch. Each user will only receive one Super Like per day, which means they are forced to be selective. Users will also be able to determine whether someone has Super Liked them by the presence of a blue footer on a given profile.
CEO of Tinder Sean Rad said: “A ‘like’, or ‘swipe right’ has long served as an anonymous way to express interest in someone, similar to a glance across the room.
“Because they’re so limited in number, a Super Like, or a ‘swipe up’, sends a more powerful signal, conveying an especially high level of interest. People like to know that someone finds them special, and we think this will lead to even better matches.”
The Tinder team has even collaborated with supermodels Erin Heatherton and Nina Agdal on the super hero-themed marketing campaign.
“I’ve always been passionate about connecting with people, so the opportunity to collaborate with the talented team at Tinder is so rewarding,” 26-year-old Heatherton said. “What I like most about Tinder is that it has given women the power to decide who has the ability to communicate with them.”
Tinder’s Super Like function is available to Aussie users today and is expected to roll out globally later this year.
Launched in 2012, the dating app matches 26 million users each day, with more than eight billion matches made to date.
