Tinder has introduced verification for high profile users of the app

HILARY Duff, Shane Warne, Britney Spears and Ed Sheeran have all apparently had Tinder accounts. But, how do you know it’s actually them?

WHEN I first heard Hilary Duff was on Tinder, I did what any reasonable bachelor would do.

I googled where she lived, changed my location settings and waited for fate to do the rest.

But, as I swiped through a good part of Brooklyn looking for Ms Duff, I wondered if her account was authentic or just the handiwork of some epic troll.

I am sure the women who went looking for Warney on Tinder shared similar angst.

It turns out it was Hilary and Warney were actually on the app, but the speculation raises an obvious question.

How do you know if the celebrity you matched with on Tinder is real?

Well, you didn’t … until now.

“Each day, 26 million matches are made on Tinder, and we do our best to keep those matches real — that’s why we’re rolling out Verified Profiles,” Tinder wrote on its blog.

“Starting today, you may see a verified symbol on some profiles.

“Now when notable public figures, celebrities and athletes appear in your recommendations, you’ll know it’s for real.”

As a prolific tinder user, I am grateful for the addition and now I just need to figure out how to get verified.
