Teen girls charged over alleged Facebook Marketplace robbery

Two teenage girls have been charged after allegedly slashing a man in the head during a botched Facebook Marketplace sale robbery.

The girls, aged 13 and 15, allegedly arrived at a property on Teasel Way in the northern Perth suburb of Carramar about 2.30pm on Sunday to buy an iPhone.

The alleged victim, a man aged in his 40s, had arranged the sale through Facebook Marketplace.

Western Australia Police said the younger girl had snatched the phone from the man and took off, meeting with a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly armed with a knife.

CCTV footage shows the pair running down a street as the man chased after them.

Moments later they can be seen running back up the same street, the man can be heard telling others to call the police.

Police will allege the two girls, who were allegedly both armed with knives, swung at the man’s head, cutting him several times before fleeing the scene.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment, while police arrested the girls at a home in the nearby suburb of Banksia Grove.

They’ve each been charged with one count of aggravated armed robbery and one count of unlawful wounding and are due in Perth Children’s Court on Monday.
