Tasmanian man charged after allegedly uploading child abuse, bestiality videos to social media groups

A Tasmanian man has been charged after allegedly uploading bestiality and child abuse videos and sharing the disturbing footage across social media.

Australian Federal Police Detective Senior Constable Dannii Campbell vowed to stay “a step ahead of this vile industry”.

A Tasmanian man who allegedly uploaded and shared perverted videos of bestiality and child abuse to social media groups has been charged.

Authorities seized two mobile phones and a laptop after raiding the 29-year-old’s Tasman Peninsula property on Thursday morning.

Folders on one of the devices were allegedly named “peda-files”, and police will allege in court these contained significant amounts of “child exploitation material”.

It will further be alleged in court that the man uploaded and shared child abuse and bestiality material to social media groups.

The Tasmanian Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) was alerted to the sickening crimes following reports to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States.

The man was charged with using a carriage service to access child abuse material, possessing child abuse material and possessing bestiality product.

He faced Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon.

“Today’s arrest is testament to our resolute efforts to ensure children aren’t re-victimised by those seeking to derive disgusting enjoyment from their suffering,” she said.

“We will continue to track down and prosecute those who seek to bring harm to any child.”
