Sydney woman’s wild offer to score limited-time pop-up pastry
A busy woman has made a crazy offer to the gig economy in order to get her hands on some limited-time croissants.
A Sydney woman has made an outrageous offer in order to get her hands on some exclusive croissants that are only in town for a limited time.
Lune Croissanterie, the Melbourne-based makers of fancy pastries that also has two stores in Brisbane, has opened a pop-up store in Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building from Friday to Sunday in a collaboration with chocolatiers Koko Black for World Chocolate Day (July 7).
Lengthy lines had already formed by the time the pop-up opened at 8am on Friday, giving one busy local woman an idea as to how to score her own tasty treats.
Turning to the gig economy, Vanessa offered $300 (yes, that’s three-zero-zero Australian dollars) on Airtasker to have someone wait in line in her place.
“I’m in meetings all day but DESPERATE for these croissants bc they are my absoloute [sic] favourite,” writes Vanessa, requesting a Belgian truffle twice baked croissant (the special Koko Black crossover pastry on offer) and one almond croissant.
“It’s only one croissant per person so please take someone with you,” she says, presumably leaving it up to the tasker and their mate as to how to split the $300.
“I promised my friend I would get us some bc I’m working in the city today but will not have time to wait in line!”
Not wanting to turn down a payday, taskers were quick to pounce on Vanessa’s post, with two offering their services within five minutes.

Expect to see similar scenes on Saturday and Sunday mornings when the pop-up opens from 9am and closes when they sell out.
There’s also the chance for some fans to score a limited amount of Lune cookbooks personally signed by founder Kate Reid.
Ms Reid, a former Formula One aerodynamicist, founded the croissanterie in 2012.
