Sarah Palin’s speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit was ... kind of bizarre
SARAH Palin reckons she might run for president. Well, if she wants to do that, she should probably come up with some speeches that actually make sense.
SHORTLY after declaring that she’s “seriously interested” in running for president in 2016, former US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has delivered a confusing speech that’s been panned by many, even on her own side of politics.
Speaking at the Iowa Freedom Summit in Des Moines on Saturday, along with a long list of fellow Republicans who are also mulling presidential campaigns, the former Alaska governor delivered an address that John Fund of the right-leaning National Review described as “meandering and often bizarre.”
Here’s a short excerpt to illustrate what we mean:
“Things must change for our government. Look at it. It isn’t too big to fail. It’s too big to succeed! It’s too big to succeed, so we can afford no retreads or nothing will change with the same people and same policies that got us into the status quo. Another Latin word, status quo, and it stands for ‘Man, the middle-class everyday Americans are really gettin’ taken for a ride.’ That’s status quo, and GOP leaders, by the way, y’know the man can only ride ya when your back is bent. So strengthen it. Then the man can’t ride ya. America won’t be taken for a ride, because so much is at stake and we can’t afford politicians playing games like nothing more is at stake than, oh, maybe just the next standing of theirs in the next election.”
In response to the speech, Mo Elleithee, the Democratic National Committee’s communications director, issued a rather concise statement: “Thank you!”
The New York Daily News says Mrs Palin’s teleprompter froze, forcing her to adlib some of her remarks. That would explain a lot.
Mrs Palin also referred to President Barack Obama as “an overgrown little boy”.
I don't say this lightly. This is the strangest speech I've ever seen Sarah Palin deliver.

'Weird,' said one conservative activist of Palin speech. 'Terrible. Didn't make any sense.' http://t.co/pe1bDkz2Cw

Despite the rather lukewarm reaction across the rest of the United States, Mrs Palin reportedly left the stage to a standing ovation and the Taylor Swift song ‘Shake it Off’.
