Salim Mehajer claims his pre-wedding video and wedding has attracted millions of tourists
JUST when you thought it was over, there’s more. Now Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer is taking a pot-shot at Australia’s media.
HE HAS annoyed his neighbours with his extravagant wedding, offended some of his fellow councillors, now Salim Mehajer is taking a pot-shot at Australia’s media.
Not content with the type of publicity his antics have generated in the past few weeks, the Auburn deputy mayor has taken to Facebook to vent his views.
In the post the property developer not only accuses local media of writing nothing but “negative articles” he also makes the brash claim that his wedding and pre-wedding video “may have attracted millions of tourists to our country”.
He then goes on to say he thought Australia’s media laws should be changed.
His comments come two days after the NSW Government announced that a controversial law would be scrapped that allowed local councillors to vote on planning control changes where they stood to benefit.
“What has come as a surprise to me is that the media in so many foreign Countries (sic) have written ample POSITIVE articles about me; whilst the media in my very own Country (sic) that I call home, my “Motherland”, so to speak, writes nothing but negative articles / negative feedback on all facets of social media,” he wrote. “I am the (sic) ‘Son’ of this Country, proudly Born and Raised (sic) and such happens?
“I believe that the only laws which require immediate change, are the rules and regulations relating to the “media”.
“I strive for the best in all aspects of my personal, social & professional life and live for my Country, and thus such nonsense prevails.
“Nevertheless, a little reminder to the media…
“I think my Pre-Wedding video & subsequent events from the “Wedding day” may have attracted millions of tourists to our country & indeed I look forward to witness the statistical increase. : )
*Forever content* : ).”
He then signs off “SM”.
Yesterday, the controversial councillor took out a half-page advertisement in his local paper blaming a third party for the road closures on his wedding day.
Last week Mr Mehajer was fined by Auburn City Council for the causing traffic chaos on his wedding day.
