WHAT a game last night! It looked like the Blues were going to suffer another defeat, before Paul Gallen and Jarryd Hayne steered the team to #Origin victory.

Twitter was equally enthused, if not more, with more than 100,000 Origin-related tweets sent during game time - a Twitter record for the series.

Another 2303 tweets were sent in the first minute after the siren.

The hashtag #Origin was not only trending in Australia, but New Zealand and UK fans were also heavily tweeting about the game, which kicked off at lunch time in Europe.

Just like the end result, the #UpTheBlues hashtag won the internet battle against #QLDER 57 per cent to 43 per cent.

This has been the first time Blues fans were able to tweet about a game one victory in Queensland since Twitter was created.

The drought will soon be over - #UpTheBlues!
