MEN on social media have gone apoplectic over a list of tongue-in-cheek “rape prevention tips” by women.
The list of ‘Ten Rape Prevention Tips’ was posted by comedian Sarah Silverman and is based off a blog post from 2011 (which also appeared in a Rape Crisis Scotland campaign).
These are great- send to all the men in ur life RT @texpatriate 10 Rape Prevention Tips. @lizzwinstead pic.twitter.com/IPfWsaz9zz

As you can see at the bottom, 44-year-old Silverman — who has said she will never marry lover Michael Sheen, who stars in TV drama Masters of Sex — advises: “send to all the men in ur life.”
At time of publication it had been retweeted more than 3800 times.
The “rape prevention tips” highlights the common double standard in how rape is treated in the world. It is in essence a reversal of the type of “how to avoid rape” tips given to women, with the onus placed upon the potential victim, not the prospective offender.
Remember Victoria Police’s misguided advice to women in the wake of the murder of Melbourne teenager Masa Vukotic.

Of course, the reaction from men is what many women and society in general has come to expect.
@dezzyboe yeah it's extremely offensive. It implies that it's common for men to think about ways to rape girls, when that's nonsense
