Man starts charity initiative to give homeless people free cigarettes

IT’S not food or shelter the homeless want, it’s cigarettes, according to one man who is on a mission to give them what they want.

TRADITIONALLY food, clothes and shelter has been the donation of choice for the plethora of Australia’s homeless population. According to Homelessness Australia 1 in every 200 Australians are homeless.

But Sam Cee decided to give Sydney’s homeless not what they need but what they want.

Cee is the man behind ‘Cigarettes for the Homeless,’ a charity initiative to give homeless people free cigarettes and other items.

He raised $5770 for his project, including $2,705 from a GoFundMe campaign page last year. At least it was a somewhat better cause than raising money to spy on your girlfriend.

In footage released March 10, Cee delivered packs to homeless people around Sydney’s CBD for three hours with his girlfriend and a friend Trent Seacy who filmed the whole thing.

He gave out packs that had “a 25 gram pouch of tobacco, rolling papers, filters, a lighter, pair of socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, a permanent marker, and a crisp $5 note” according to the clip uploaded by Seacy who was adamant that it was not a social experiment.

“I felt like I was treating it like one of those f**king social experiment videos, when really this wasn’t an experiment at all,” Seacy wrote.
