THE US President left a 19-word note at the sombre Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial that’s been likened to something a kid in highschool might write.

DONALD Trump’s first overseas trip has president has been quite the boon for the internet.

No sooner had social media laughed off First Lady Melania’s apparent swatting away of her husband’s hand as they alighted Air Force One in the Middle East, has a new source of Trump ridicule emerged.

A 19-word note left by the US President at the sombre Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Israel has been relentlessly mocked online and compared to the more thoughtful and considered note left by his predecessor, Barack Obama and another by Hillary Clinton.

The note, scrawled in mixed capitals and finished with an exclamation mark, is similar in tone to one of the prolific tweeter’s posts, and has been compared to a note left in a high school yearbook, rather than one left at a memorial for the six million Jews killed by the Nazis.

“IT IS A GREAT HONOR TO BE HERE WITH ALL OF MY FRIENDS – SO AMAZING AND WILL NEVER FORGET!” Mr Trump wrote.

By comparison, Mr Obama left a lengthy, considered note paying tribute to the lives lost in October, 2008

“I am grateful to Yad Vashem and all those responsible for this remarkable institution. At a time of great peril and promise, war and strife, we are blessed to have such a powerful reminder of man’s potential for great evil, but also our capacity to rise up from tragedy and remake our world,” he wrote.

“Let our children come here, and know this history, so that they can add their voices to proclaim ‘never again’. And may we remember those who perished, not only as victims, but also as individuals who hoped and loved and dreamed like us, and who have become symbols of the human spirit.”

Twitter users responded accordingly.
