SNAPCHAT is one of the more popular social media platforms currently available on the market.

While the app already offers hours of entertainment, there are a number of hacks that can make it even better.

We have compiled a list of the top 10. Enjoy.

1. Pimp out your avatar with a gif-like animation

That crafty little yellow box at the top of your menu page (see top of article) does a lot more than provide a silhouette of Snapchat’s ghost logo.

If you tap on the logo you will be redirected to a new screen with the camera capture button and an enlarged version of the ghost logo.

After pressing the capture button, your front-facing camera will take five quick pictures that Snapchat will use to create a gif-like animation to appear inside the ghost.

This can be changed at any time by repeating the process.

2. People can use your trendy new ghost icon to quickly add you to Snapchat

You have created your gif-like avatar and are showing it off to your friends when they realise they don’t have you added to Snapchat.

Luckily, they can point their Snapchat camera at your ghost avatar and tap the screen.

This will work like a QR code and you will automatically be added to their friend list.

Even more impressive is the fact your Snapchat doesn’t need to be open for the hack to work.

By simply taking a screenshot of your icon and posting it social media, people can add you with ease.

3. Use music as a backing track to your Snapchat video

After reading this you are going to kick yourself at how easy it is to add music to your Snapchat video.

Simply open Apple Music and hit play on the track you want to appear in the background of your video.

Then open Snapchat as per usual and record you video comforted by the fact the audio playing in the background will be the song you selected.

4. Facetime for Snapchat

When you are in Snapchat’s chat feature with a friend, you can obviously send them snaps and text messages.

However, if the yellow button at the bottom of your chat screen turns blue, you have the opportunity to have a video chat with them.

All you have to do is both hold down the button at the same time and you are good to go.

5. Skip through stories at your own leisure

You’re watching your friend’s 240-second story of their drunken antics the night earlier.

While impressed with their effort, you find some clips slightly more boring than others.

No need to worry, all you need to do is tap the screen while watching the story and it will bypass you to the next 10-second clip.

This is what we think of your text restrictions, Snapchat.

6. Bypass Snapchat’s annoying character limit

If you are a prolific Snapchatter, chances are you have found yourself struggling with the character limit provided by the app.

However, this is easy to game.

Firstly, open your iPhones “notes” application and repetitively hit enter to create a number of blank lines.

Once this is complete, copy the lines of blank text you have created and then paste them into Snapchat’s text box.

The app will now let you type for as many lines as you allowed in the notes app, although you will need to manually tap to get to the next line.

7. Adding text is cool, but adding colourful text is awesome

Adding large text over your Snapchat is common knowledge. But, did you know you can change its colour?

After writing whatever message it is you want to include, highlight the character you would like to change and then select what colour you would like it to be from the slider.

Using this option you can either change the entire text to be one colour or select individual characters to give your message a nice rainbow appearance.

8. Combine a number of filters to appear on one image

By swiping right on your snap you can add filters to change the colour of your image.

Alternatively, you can include the time, temperature or details about speed.

But, did you know that you can combine the two?

The simple hack is performed by swiping right to select whatever filter you want.

Then, by holding your finger on the screen and swiping again you are able to overlay another filter.

9. Change the size of text and emojis

Going into your settings and enabling ‘special text’ allows you to have greater freedom with what you write.

After using the large text option to type whatever characters or emojis you like you can easily change the size and position.

This is done by simply using two fingers to expand the writing to whatever size and position you please.

10. Use snapchat on your iPad to achieve better results using the drawing tool

This one is pretty basic.

Because your iPad has a greater surface area than your iPhone, it is easier to create better works of art to include in your Snap.
