GOOGLE Trends has released a list of the top ‘who is ...?’ searches in Australia for 2014.

Some of the results were unsurprising. ISIS, for instance, came in second place, behind Jesus. But there were some unexpected results as well.

Musician Red Foo, mysterious street-artist Banksy, Siri and Marvel’s fictional character Ultron all came in above God.

The top eight.
The top eight.

So, since so many people are apparently wondering, we thought we’d explain who those people are.

Who is Redfoo?

Music man Redfoo made headlines for plenty of reasons last year. The LMFAO singer and X Factor judge hit the news in August after he was glassed at an eastern Sydney hotel. He was in the news again after he featured in a the song “Literally I Can’t”, along with Lil Jon and Enertia McFly.

The song was labelled misogynistic and slammed for being one of the most offensive songs of the year.

Who is Banksy?

World-famous graffiti artist Banksy has been an elusive figure. His random street artworks have kept the world guessing as he’s stayed under the radar. He’s been able to keep his identity pretty much secret since his works first popped up 1990s, but he’s rumoured to be a man named Robin, from Bristol, England. There have also been suggestions he creates artwork and gives it out to strangers on trains.

Who is Siri?

Siri is the voice recognition software behind the Apple iPhone. In case you’re wondering, the voice of Australian Siri belongs to a woman named Karen Jacobsen from Mackay, in Queensland. She also provides a voice for Tom Toms, GPS and a bunch of other gadgets.

Who is Ultron?

Ultron doesn’t actually exist. But for those who like to bury themselves in fantasy worlds, this Marvel comic character is “arguably the greatest and certainly the most horrific creation of scientific genius Dr Henry Pym”.

In a nutshell, the character is a criminally insane ‘rogue sentient robot’ hellbent on destroying all humanity.

People possibly started looking up Ultron’s name when the extended trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron was released.
