A WOMAN in Florida is facing assault charges after she allegedly slapped her own 72-year-old grandma multiple times.
The purported reason: the grandmother wouldn’t accept her granddaughter’s Facebook friend request.
Facebook is the ultimate ego-booster. Every like and comment add to our own self-indulgence. So when someone denies your friend request, it’s the ultimate slap in the face.
Rachel Anne Hayes got a big old metaphorical slap in the face when her grandmother wouldn’t accept her Facebook friend request, so she slapped her; physically.
According to reports, the grandmother claimed Ms Hayes’ Facebook name was too “inappropriate” and insisted she would only accept the request once her granddaughter changed her display name.
This upset Ms Hayes which led her to slap her grandmother on the face multiple times.
The victim then retreated into her home and locked the door and presumably called 911.
The suspect had already left the residence when deputies arrived, but they apparently tracked her.
The arrest affidavit also shows that Ms Hayes, 27, was under the influence of alcohol.
Hayes was charged with aggravated battery on an elderly person.
The local jail records show that Hayes has three prior arrests for DUI, violation of probation for DUI, and disorderly conduct (urinating). She is in the Pinellas County Jail awaiting a hearing.
