FBI tracks down Kentucky student Gracyn Courtright after she bragged about Capitol raid

A young student bragged about how “cool” she was for storming the US Capitol. Texts from mates who turned on her have been revealed.

Court records have revealed the savage messages a friend sent Kentucky student Gracyn Courtright after she bragged about her participation in the storming of the US Capitol on January 6.

On Twitter, Courtright shared footage that showed her inside the Capitol building with Donald Trump supporters who demanded the counting of legitimate election votes be stopped by force.

On Instagram she wrote: “Can’t wait to tell my grandkids I was here” and “INFAMY IS JUST AS GOOD AS FAME … EITHER WAY I END UP MORE KNOWN”.

The posts did indeed make Courtright known. The FBI tracked her digital trail and she now faces federal charges including knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building and engaging in disorderly conduct.

Gracyn Courtright shared a photo claiming ‘Infamy is just as good as fame’ after taking part in the Capitol raid.

An affidavit shared on social media details direct messages between a friend of Courtright and the alleged trespasser.

Friend: “You were there???”

Courtright: “Yes it wasn’t violent like the news said I took pictures all in the building, I never saw the violence I guess I was lucky. The cops like let us walk in.”

Friend: “Dude that’s embarrassing.”

Courtright: “I walked into the chamber like the senate where desk (sic) are. It’s history (I don’t know). I thought it was cool.”

Friend: “You’re a moron. What’s cool about that lady dying because you and your fellow idiots are cry babies over an election? She’s dead. It’s history? You’re in the wrong side of it dumbass. You embarrassed everyone who knows you.”

Courtright: “I’m sad she died? My friends are my friends everyday?”

Friend: “Yea you f***ing idiot! What you did was treason!”

Courtright: “(I don’t know) what treason is.”

During the exchange, Courtright admitted her friends “all knew I was (going to the Capitol)”.

The Washington Post reports Courtright is a senior at the University of Kentucky. The University’s newspaper, the Kentucky Kernel, reports that she is studying senior mathematical economics.

It noted that videos she shared before deleting her social media accounts declared rioters were “peacefully chanting”.

“Nobody fighting or destroying anything some of my CNN and Fox News watchers need to think for themselves,” she wrote above a video.

“The police officers walked around with us, nobody is being violent (from what I saw),” she wrote on another video.

The insurrection at the US Capitol followed a speech by President Donald Trump that urged supporters to march to the building in a show of force against what he called a “stolen” election.

Mr Trump has since been impeached for a second time for inciting the insurrection.

Authorities have arrested and charged dozens of rioters who took part in the siege that saw four members of the public and one officer killed.
