There have been simultaneous reports of widespread outages affecting several social media platforms throughout the United States.
The social media platforms that have been affected include Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, with thousands of users in the US encountering difficulties while attempting to access these sites.
According to the website Downdetector.com, over 12,000 Facebook users have reported encountering errors, while approximately 7000 incidents have been reported for Instagram. Twitter reports have peaked at nearly 10,000 around 9am AEDT.
Facebook Messenger is also said to be having issues.

Users who are still able to post have taken to Twitter to complain.
One person said: “Facebook is seriously down. Fatal error!”
Another person added: “It’s always scary to work using tools managed by a different company because when they go down, I can’t do my job #facebookdown #instagramdown.”
Another complained: “Idk why I keep my Instagram and Facebook open when they’re down like every other week.”
Other websites and platforms that have been impacted by these outages include Fox News and Runescape, among others.
