Facebook has built a seriously amazing new headquarters in California
A ROOFTOP park, giant swings, office ball pits — this is just ridiculous. If you didn’t want to work for Mark Zuckerberg before, you will now.
TECH companies are famous for their alternative approach to the workplace, but Facebook has upped the ante.
The social media giant has moved into a new 4,000-square-metre headquarters this week and it looks amazing.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the move on the company’s Facebook page, of course, and the internet quickly went green with envy as pictures from employees began surfacing online.
The building is essentially one giant room and boasts the largest open floor plan in the world, according the founder of the company.
“Our goal was to create the perfect engineering space for our teams to work together. We wanted our space to create the same sense of community and connection among our teams,” Zuckerberg wrote.
While he characterised the building as “pretty simple” and said it “isn’t really fancy,” we’ll let you be the judge.
The new building was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry and sits alongside the water in Menlo Park, California.
Complete with a 9-acre rooftop park with walking trails, giant swings and a ball pit inside, there is plenty to stimulate creative thinking.
Or at least help you avoid actually doing any real work.
With a resident artist, it’s not surprising that the building is full of murals and eye catching wall art. All intended to inspire.
So if you’re looking to upgrade your work environment, job applications can be found at Facebook’s careers page, which says the company doesn’t have rules, it has values.
Surely it makes sense to at least have a time limit on the ball pit, but Zuckerberg seems to know what he’s doing.
