FACEBOOK is set to evoke serious nostalgia with a new feature rolling out globally over the next few days.

Aptly titled “On This Day,” the feature allows users to see past status updates, photos, posts from friends from the exact calendar date in years past.

The company first toyed with the idea in 2010 with a feature called “Memories,” but it never took off.

However, with third party apps like Timehop gaining momentum, Facebook decided to relaunch the idea.

The feature will be collated into an area that can be found by visiting the On This Day page.

“Once on the page, you can choose to subscribe to notifications so you’ll be alerted when you have memories to look back on,” Facebook wrote in a blog.

If you are worried about everyone seeing the drunken rant you posted four years earlier, you can rest easy.

“Only you will see this content unless you decide to share it with your friends,” Facebook wrote.

“You can also edit and delete old posts.”

To combat inducing painful memories, the feature also runs an algorithm that blocks out past posts involving ex-lovers or friends who have died.
