A uni student has shared the moment he was stabbed in broad daylight after a Facebook Marketplace sale turned violent.

A uni student has detailed the horrifying moment he was stabbed in broad daylight in a Facebook Marketplace sale gone wrong.

Will, 20, was stabbed in the stomach and thigh in the inner-city Perth suburb of Highgate on Thursday, March 28.

The Western Australian man had listed over $2,000 worth of jewellery on the social media site and had arranged to meet a man at Hyde Park just before 10.30am to make the sale.

But while he was showing the prospective buyer the jewellery, the man allegedly snatched the items and ran off.

CCTV footage released by WA Police shows Will chasing the man down the street before he was attacked.

“I was just like yelling ‘I’ve been robbed’ and then I was just trying to get this guy to stop,” Will told 9News.

A good Samaritan tried to help stop the man by knocking over a bin however things tuned violent, with Will stabbed once in the torso and once in the upper thigh.

“I’m looking at myself and I just like see this blood just pouring out of me,” said Will.

“I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Residents told 9News the attacker threw away a knife sheath before fleeing.

Will was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

He said doctors needed to cut him open to check his organs had not been punctured in the attack,

“It was very excruciating for a few days following and I’m still in a bit of pain,” he said.

He had has since been released.

Detective Acting Sergeant Millie Phelan said the 20-year-old was “lucky” to have escaped with no life-changing injuries.

“These kinds of acts are cowardly and incredibly violent,” she told media on Friday.

“Violence of this nature will not be tolerated and is unacceptable.”

Detective Phelan said anyone with information about the male pictured in the CCTV footage, who police believe could assist in the investigation, to come forward.

“No matter how small you believe the information to be, it can assist us in closing this investigation and bringing justice to the victim involved.”

A week on from the attack, Will warned others they “can never be too careful meeting a stranger” when trying to sell items online.

“I know lots of people use the platform but just be careful.”
