Donald Trump follows former Aussie cricketer on Twitter
DONALD Trump could be the next US president. He has 3.6 million Twitter followers, and only follows 47 back – with one of those being an Aussie cricketing legend.
YOU might remember former Aussie cricketer Damien Martyn for his crucial 88 runs of 84 balls in Australia’s victory of the 2003 cricket World Cup. But it appears he now has a very powerful friend – or follower.
That’s right, the one and only Donald Trump is a follower of Damien Martyn, who played 67 Tests for Australia between 1992 and 2006 on Twitter.
What makes this especially strange, is that despite the potential future US president having 3.6 million followers himself, he only follows 47 people back.
The former Aussie cricketer is deemed to be one of the 47 most important people on social media to Donald Trump.
We’re still trying to work out why, whether it be an accident, that Damo and Dono are old mates from back in the day, or simply that the former Apprentice host just loves Damien’s tweets.
Keen-eyed cricket fans have spotted the follow, just as Martyn has, and he’s loving the attention it’s bringing him.
Ha ha love it... https://t.co/NQghsxDLp1

So, @realDonaldTrump follows 47 people on Twitter, one of them is Damien Martyn...the former Australian batsman Damien Martyn. #WTF

We’ve flicked a text to Damo for comment, but we’re pretty sure he’s too busy helping write Dono’s next election speech.
