‘Does anyone know this kangaroo?’ Aussie animal spotted hopping around in Denmark

A kangaroo has been spotted hopping around a small town in Denmark, and it’s left authorities scratching their heads.

Danish police have been left scratching their heads after an Australian kangaroo was spotted hopping around a small town in the European country.

Officers from the South Zealand and Lolland-Falster police took to social media asking locals: “Does anyone know this kangaroo?”

As police explained, a driver couldn't believe his eyes when at about 8.07am on Monday morning he saw the marsupial jumping around in a field near Oster Ulslev, a village 16km from the port city of Rodbyhavn.

Anyone in the area that had any idea where the kangaroo came from or were missing the Australian native animal were asked to call Danish police.

It’s understood nobody has reported the kangaroo missing and the local zoos say it’s not theirs.

The video drew much attention, with hundreds of people commenting on the post.

“It's only at Lolland something like this happens,” one person wrote.

“How does a kangaroo go in Danish winter?” a second said.

“I would have driven back home if I had seen a kangaroo,” a third commented.

“Haven't they just opened the borders to Australia? I guess it’s just been waiting to come home,” a fourth posted.

Facebook user Camilla Tine Jacobsen commented on the post, saying there was a person who had kangaroos nearby.

“It ran away a long time ago but has not been captured,” she said.

“Have seen many posting about it in a group.”

A second person, Henrik Kroman, also posted about the kangaroo supposedly being on the loose for years.

“We have been trying to catch it without luck,” he posted.

“We moved to Oster Ulslev in 2017 when it was already on the run from the owner.

“I've been told it has probably been on the loose since 2014.”
