A social media star with 33 million followers has called out a group of young fans after a disturbing incident follwing his Aussie tour.

'Say sorry': Youtuber iShowSpeed confronts kid who called him a monkey

Streaming sensation IShowSpeed has called out a group of young fans who allegedly screamed obscenities at him as he was riding Rotorua’s SkySwing.

The 19-year old American creator, who livestreams his wild stunts to an audience of more than 33 million on YouTube, arrived in New Zealand on Sunday after spending a week in Australia.

Already, the streamer is up to his usual antics. He has crashed a go-kart, he then led a Haka with locals before ending his stream lying motionless after freefalling 43 metres, landing on his head.

For the most part, Speed’s streams have been replete with these lighthearted shenanigans. However things took a sinister turn when a group of young boys directed some unsavoury comments towards the creator.

Footage captured on Speed’s stream shows him approaching the group asking, “What did you call me? Did you call me a monkey bro?”

After demanding an apology from the boys and questioning where their parents were, he quickly moved onto his other, more respectful fans sharing hugs, hi-fives and selfies.

When one of the boys in question requested if he too could get a hug, Speed quickly denied, “Nah, you don’t get nothing bro,” he said.

The streamer made headlines last week in Australia, by taking on AFL stars and attempting to chat up Australian women on Bondi Beach. And so far, the New Zealand leg of his tour has not disappointed viewers.

In two days Speed has trained with New Zealand’s NRL team, the Warriors, sparred with kiwi UFC fighter Dan Hooker, and played basketball with ex-NBA and current NBL player Tacko Fall.

Part of the allure of Speed’s streams is his access to other famous celebs across the world. In the space of a year he has attended the Ballon d’Or ceremony, appeared on WWE and boxed Manny Pacquiao.

More recently his content has been centred around touring foreign countries, he recently completed a tour of South-East Asia in late September. He also livestreamed a tour of Europe during the UEFA euro’s tournament amassing over 2.5 billion views across all of his social media accounts.

He has also announced a month-long tour across the African continent that he said will be “coming very soon”.

The announcement is off the back of his nomination for Best IRL Streamer Award for 2024.
