ETHAN Czahor was fired from his job for homophobic and sexist tweets. Now he has come up with an app that stops dumb tweets and Facebook posts appearing online.

Mr Czahor was hired by former Florida governor Jeb Bush as his chief technology officer.

However, a number of old, offensive tweets were unearthed which caused him to get fired.

“Most people don’t know that ‘Halloween’ is German for “night girls with low self esteem dress like sluts,” he wrote in one tweet.

“When I burp in the gym I feel like it’s my way of saying, ‘sorry guys, but I’m not gay’,” he wrote in another.

So Mr Czahor has created an app called Clear which uses IBM’s Watson supercomputer to help analyse which of your Facebook and Twitter posts may be deemed offensive.

Users are given a score between 0 and 100 based on how offensive they are and then they can choose what posts to delete.

Mr Czahor says he is hoping to expand the app to other social media sites.

Asked whether people should just stop saying offensive things on social media rather than relying on an app that helps you hide your true thoughts, Mr Czahor toldTech Crunch that it obviously won’t save those people who are genuinely offensive.

“I would agree that anything that’s obviously hateful or intolerant, you shouldn’t be able to hide in your past,” he said. “But if that exists in your heart, you won’t be able to hide it in your future.”

“Every millennial is now entering the workforce, and maybe even a senior position, and everything they’ve said online for the last 10 years is still there, and that’s a new thing for this generation,” he said.

Clear is currently open for users to register with ahead of a full launch later this year.
