‘Bubble Boy’ Seth Lane asks the internet to wear yellow

SETH Lane suffers ‘bubble boy syndrome’, a severe combined immune deficiency, and is about to undergo surgery. So he asked the internet to do one thing for him.

Seth asked the internet to #WearYellowForSeth and so it did.

THIS little boy melted the hearts of millions on the internet and sent the colour yellow viral.

People across the world made the effort on Friday to wear yellow for five-year-old Seth Lane who suffers from ‘Bubble Boy Syndrome’ – severe combined immune deficiency (SCID).

As he waits for a bone-marrow transplant to try and help fight his immune deficiency he has to remain in a sterile, germ-free ‘Bubble Unit’ at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary in the UK.

His father Nik toldChronicleLive this would be Seth’s second marrow transplant in seven months.

“He had his first bone marrow transplant at seven months old in Great Ormond Street, and has had a lot more treatments, some of which were to try and deal with the side effects of that, since then.

“Towards the end of last year he began to have more complications from the first transplant and his immunity started dropping again, so doctors said the best way forward to correct that was a second transplant, and to effectively start again,” he said.

Seth’s family filmed a video with Seth holding up cards asking people to wear yellow as a sign of support and placed it online.

And so thousands of people did just that — all around the world — and made Seth’s day.

From Bangladesh to America; from businesses to politicians.

From stars like Ashton Kutcher to entire vehicle fleets.

It was a feast of yellow to brighten a sick little boy’s day.

Seth was even surprised by a group of Newcastle firefighters after they learned Seth was a fan of Fireman Sam.
