After promising to start monitoring credibility of news media, Elon Musk promotes website linked to sex cult

JUST days after declaring he wanted to track the credibility of the news media, Elon Musk endorsed an article from the most unlikely of places.

What drives Elon Musk?

IT DIDN’T take long for Elon Musk’s news media endorsing idea to hit a rather awkward snag.

The billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX embarked on a Twitter rant last week declaring he wanted to create a website which lets the public rate “the core truth” of news articles and track a credibility score of publications and journalists over time.

His social media musings were quick to ignite heated debate. Some agreed with the thrust of the idea while some wrote scathing opinion pieces about Musk being the Donald Trump of Silicon Valley.

Just a few days after writing about his media monitoring plan, Musk shared and recommended an article on a website called The Knife, saying it was an “excellent” analysis of the media’s response to his frustration with journalists.

The only problem was the website reportedly has some nefarious origins. The site, formerly known as the Knife of Aristotle, is affiliated with NXIVM, the suspected sex cult whose leader Keith Raniere was arrested in March and charged with a slew of crimes ranging from forcing his followers to have sex with him to having them branded.

Well, that’s just unlucky.
Well, that’s just unlucky.

An article last year in Paste Magazine detailed the bizarre reality of The Knife website, which is essentially a site run by made-up journalists masquerading as an anti-fake news website.

Musk quickly deleted the tweet, but not before his detractors pounced on the unfortunate endorsement.

However, despite the whole sex cult affiliation, Musk wasn’t backing away from his criticisms of the media.
