A cannabis-smoking jilted lover strangled his ex-partner and her seven-month-old baby then took to Facebook to brag about his crime and boast he was in "good spirits".

In a report by the Daily Mail, Wesley Williams, 29, admitted to killing Yvonne Walsh and her son Harrison by applying "pressure to their necks" as they lay in their beds, then posted to his own Facebook account immediately after: "sometimes we just have to do things we shouldn't."

The report states that Williams also replied to another social media user saying he "was in good spirits" and was seen on a CCTV camera "doing high-fives" and "joking, laughing and smiling" before he was apprehended.

The bodies were found at the Brimingham home as a result of Mr Williams text messaging local police to what he had done.

Ms Walsh, who worked at a care home in Birmingham, UK, is known to have been alive at 8.10pm on Friday May 31 and dead by 8.54pm, the prosecution announced.

It is believed Williams murdered Ms Walsh and her son out of anger as he was planning on proposing to her before their relationship was broken off after two months.

Williams, who was a known cannabis user also posted: "I am sorry it had to come to this," on Ms Walsh's Facebook page.

Mr Williams admitted to two counts of murder at a trial last week and has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 29 years. Mr Justice MacDuff described Williams as "clearly evil and dangerous beyond measure".
