Iron Man is lego, Charlies Angel's love Sudoku - What the code in movies really means
SOME of Hollywood's most popular movies are based around computer hacking. But does the code they show on screen actually exist? One movie buff put it to the test.
WE ALL know the scene. The one where the computer hacker smashes the keys to reveal green code which looks like you're about to enter the Matrix.
But what does it actually mean and is it fake or the real deal?
Well, one movie buff has put together a blog explaining the most popular codes used in film and you may be surprised to learn that it's not all legit.
Charlie's Angels
In the movie a piece of code is used to break into a safe but it's actually from a Sudoku puzzle solver.
Elementary
On a piece of paper in an episode of the TV show Elementary, there is a line of complicated code. If you ran it, though, all it would do is output the words "Hello World!"
Ironman
What's Tony Stark's Ironman suit made of? Well, Lego it seems. The code used to launch Ironman in the movie is in fact code used to control robotic Lego.
Doctor Who
Everyone's favourite BBC doctor even has an episode with odd code in the intro. When tested the code runs random browser based tasks and has references to BBC's Doctor Who website.
If you feel like jumping into a land of inaccurate movie code, there's pages and pages more on the blog.
