A tradie has expertly cut down a nosy 5G conspiracy theorist who charged onto a job site demanding answers and accusing the crew of committing a “crime” on a residential street.

Footage has emerged of a woman marching up to contractors installing a 5G cell on a residential street, reportedly in the southeast Melbourne suburb of Murrumbeena.

The Great Australian Cooker shared the video on Twitter, declaring one worker deserves a cold beer after deftly and politely telling the “cooker” to go away.

The woman, who appears to be filming the interaction, boldly storms the work site asking if the contractors are “happy today”.

She earns cheery greetings from some workers before one man approaches and asks what she is doing there.

“What is happening? It is me who would question you,” the woman, who speaks with a European accent, said.

“Are you participating in the installation of a 5G small cell?”

“We sure are,” the tradie replied.

The woman then asked whether the crew are “informed” that the 5G small cell is “approved to the highest level of radiation in the world”. She spurts out evidence of this supposed radiation, before the worker deftly shuts her down.

“Have you thought about a foil hat to keep it out?” the worker asks, referring to the radiation.

That sets the woman off.

“No, you are joking and you are laughing. Sorry, you are going to be complicit of jokes against [a] population who is really concerned against a crime.”

“It’s a crime?” the worker cuts in.

Yes, she said, declaring it was an “assault to radiate people and to laugh at them … and insulting me to be a tin foil hat”.

“You cannot have the right to laugh at me when I am concerned,” she said.

The tradie, incredulously and correctly, said he actually “can” laugh at her, which prompted the woman to wave a piece of paper that apparently proved the massive “gigahertz and megahertz” of radiation that will pour out of the 5G cell at him.

“Are you still laughing at me and telling me I’m a tin foil hat?” she asked after waving the numbers around.

“I am,” the worker said.

The tradie’s patient replies seemed to incense the woman, who threatened to lodge a complaint with his employer, Utility Solutions Australia – which the tradie encouraged – accusing him of being “complicit of an offence”.

But the worker turned the tables on her, cutting her down in one fell swoop.

“We’re here doing our job legally, and we’re being accosted by you,” he said. The woman can be heard saying “yes”.

“You shouldn’t even be in our job site,” he added, but the woman disagreed and said she was on “public land”.

“We are not here to cause you any grief, you’re here to cause us grief,” he said.

She also interrupted to disagree, saying she was asking questions.

“You’re very worked up for no apparent reason,” the tradie continued.

“No, I am emotional, but don’t twist my words,” she interrupted, again, adding that “asking question[s] is not a crime”.

Although the video ends with the woman continuing her rant, repeating the supposed evidence of 5G radiation, Twitter users have been quick to praise the tradie for his “gold” clap backs.

“Whoever casually dropped the ‘tinfoil hat’ line definitely gets a beer from me,” one user wrote.

“‘It is an offence to laugh at me,’ I’d argue is impossible to not laugh at you,” another replied.

“How annoying. People have a right not to be yelled at in the workplace.”

After misinformation about 5G technology began circulating during Australia’s rollout of the mobile network, Australia’s then chief medical officer Brendan Murphy issued a public statement rebuking the claims.

“I’d like to reassure the community that 5G technology is safe,” he said in January 2020.

“There is no evidence telecommunication technologies, such as 5G, cause adverse health impacts.”

Professor Murphy said the radio waves from telecommunications technology were not hazardous to health.

“Limits are set well below the levels where there is evidence of some biological effects such as tissue heating,” he said.

News.com.au approached Utility Solutions Australia for comment about this incident and asked whether the woman had lodged a complaint with the company.
