Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson vowed to follow lead of the hacktivism group Anonymous

BEN Carson is in the running to be America’s next president. He’s vowed to make it follow the lead of the notorious hacking group Anonymous.

IF this presidential candidate gets elected into the oval office, he has vowed to make America follow the lead of Anonymous.

Republican Ben Carson, who is currently polling second behind Donald Trump, believes the US has to mimic the model the hacking collective is currently using to prohibit the distribution of Islamic State’s hate-based propaganda.

“We can monitor social media by expanding the search algorithms already in place to safeguard against inappropriate behaviour, including religious hate speech,” he wrote on The Washington Post.

“Once flagged, we can notify platform providers and encourage them to censor communications (and block users) that violate the terms of constructive discourse.

“We should use every tool at our disposal to root out and destroy the global online recruitment efforts of these extremist organisations.”

Mr Carson added the United States need to enlist the help of moderate Kurds, Syrians and Iraqis to defeat the Islamic State.

“We must convince them that the Islamic State poses a fundamental threat to their existence. And we must equip them with the means to convey that message to their people,” he said.

“This will require a multi-pronged communications strategy that leverages our strengths in media production and messaging, combined with cutting off traditional access routes to social media for radical Islamist groups.”

While following the example of Anonymous might help win some votes, it is unlikely his beliefs that “Jews could have prevented the Holocaust if they had guns” and “women who get abortions are like slaveholders” will be viewed in the same light.

The news comes as Anonymous continue its quest to destroy the online prepense of Islamic State.

Currently the hacking activist group claims to have been responsible for the removal of over 6080 social media accounts linked to the terrorist organisation.

In addition to working on closing propaganda accounts, Anonymous has started using its official OpParis Twitter account to troll terrorists.

As part of the trolling strategy, the hacking collective announced it is going to start spamming verified ISIS hashtags with rickrolls — posting a misleading link that redirects people to the video for Rick Astley’s debut single, “Never Gonna Give You Up”.

Meanwhile, fellow activist hacking group Ghost Security has been working to uncover the cryptocurrencies Islamic State are using to fund its operations.
“The Islamic State does use cryptocurrencies as a form of income to fund their ongoing operations and we have managed to uncover several Bitcoin addresses used by them,” a spokesman told NewsBTC.

“One of the accounts we analysed was found to contain 3 million US dollars worth of Bitcoins.”

The hacking group said it would continue its investigations and hoped to close down websites Islamic State use to raise bitcoins.

“Most of the Bitcoin funding sites used by the Islamic State are on the deep web and we have managed to uncover several and successfully shut them down in order to limit the funding extremists receive through the use of cryptocurrencies.”
