HACKER "Guccifer", who famously targeted the Bush family, claims to have added lots more celebrities to his list of victims.
Documents given to The Smoking Gun by “Guccifer” shows the hacker has continued to target high-profile victims in the US and overseas during the past year.
The hacker has accessed e-mail correspondence, contact lists, phone records, personal photos, online storage sites, and a wide range of confidential financial documents, including credit card, banking, and investment statements.
The list includes entertainers, academics, government officials and journalists, including Australian actress Nicole Kidman who had her email hacked.
Other big names targeted by "Guccifer" include comedian Steve Martin; editor Tina Brown, author Kitty Kelley; actress Mariel Hemingway; Robert Redford, Warren Beatty, Leonardo DiCaprio and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, stealing the script for the Season 4 finale six months before it first aired in the UK.
The Smoking Gun says it doesn't know the hacker's identity, location or gender.
"I don’t know what near future hold for me,” the hacker stated, saying the documents were being provided “in case I disappear.”
“Guccifer” has not detailed how so many email accounts were hacked but some appear to have been penetrated by guessing security questions. The documents show the hacker reviewed the Wikipedia pages of prospective victims, obtaining the names of relatives, and even referred to a list containing the most popular names for dogs and cats.
While publicising his hacking activities could provide new leads on who Guccifer is, the hacker says he/she is not worried.
“NO I am not concerned, i think i switch the proxies go to play some backgammon on yahoo watch tv, play with my family and daughter.”
The Smoking Gun says he hacker has also bought a “new powerful computer” to help continue the illegal activities.
The hacker has not given a reason for hacking into so many accounts but claims to be operating from "the cloud of Infinite Justice."
