Google Street View hack Urban Jungle turns cities green
WANT to live in an urban jungle? This unauthorised tweak of Google’s Street View gives you the power to turn your city green.
IT really is a jungle out there.
Big cities are often referred to as the concrete jungle, because a bit of greenery can be hard to come by.
A hack for Google Street View application turns that assumption upside down, adding forest greenery in the correct perspective to any part of the planet that Google’s already got Map View data for.
Urban Jungle only works in Google’s Chrome browser and is, like most hacks, not officially supported. Google’s cracked down on creative uses of Street View data in the past, so quite how long Urban Jungle will last remains to be seen.
Web site The Verge notes that the site’s developer, Einar Öberg said on Twitter that he was “Breaking terms of use like it’s no tomorrow”, so if you want your urban jungle fix, it might be wise to swing by sooner rather than later.
