Ellen DeGeneres selfie at Oscars 2014 breaks Twitter
THIS celebrity-packed Oscars mega selfie just shattered re-tweet records. It also managed to break the internet on the way.
ELLEN DeGeneres managed to break Twitter re-tweet records after taking a mega selfie crammed with Hollywood’s hottest stars at the Oscars.
In between awards, Ellen paraded the aisles of the venue with her (not so subtle) Samsung mobile in the hope of taking a quick snap with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. Then things got out of hand.
If only Bradley's arm was longer. Best photo ever. #oscars pic.twitter.com/C9U5NOtGap

Channing Tatum got involved. As did Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Kevin Spacey. The selfie got so star-studded, poor Bradley Cooper’s arms weren’t long enough to get everyone in.
Ellen took the picture in a stunt gunning to smash the record for the most re-Tweeted photo of all time, in less than an hour.
The record holder was a photo of US President Barack Obama hugging his wife Michelle after his re-election victory, which has more than 779,000 re-tweets.
Ellen’s celebrity shot gained 634,000 in just half an hour and has already broken over 1.2 million (at time of writing).

With a worldwide audience of nearly a billion viewers, when it was uploaded to Twitter so many people logged on to check out the epic photograph it overloaded its servers and brought the site down.
Twitter even emailed Ellen to say she had just “broken Twitter”, which she announced at the awards ceremony. This outage was temporary though and Twitter was up and reporting Oscars glamour within a few moments.
While we have to give a big round of applause for a history-making photo, you have to feel for Liza Minnelli who desperately tried to photobomb the shot. And failed.
If you look closely, you might be able to make out the top of her hair, but this photo taken from above shows how close and how hard she tried to get in with the crowd. Unlucky Liza.
This pic of Liza trying to fit into Ellen's selfie is both spectacular and sad. http://t.co/KHS3ZvmelK
