Donald Trump’s ‘abusive’ tweet slapped with another warning label

The US President has had another warning label placed over one of his tweets after he sent a message to protesters threatening “serious force”.

Another tweet from US President Donald Trump has been slapped with a warning label, after Twitter said it violated its policy against threatening harm.

On Tuesday, as the President fired out a number of tweets, he warned that if protesters attempted to set up an “autonomous zone” in Washington DC they’d be “met with serious force”.

“We’ve placed a public interest notice on this tweet for violating our policy against abusive behaviour, specifically, the presence of a threat of harm against an identifiable group,” Twitter said in the warning.

The label also covered over the tweet, blocking users from being able to view the post, and blocked people from being able to retweet the post. Users can still see the tweet by clicking on it, which Twitter explains is because of “its relevance to ongoing public conversation”.

Mr Trump shared the same message on social media giant Facebook, where it remains intact and has received more than 130,000 likes and has been shared more than 5400 times.

“There will never be an ‘Autonomous Zone’ in Washington, D.C, as long as I’m your President. If they try they will be met with serious force,” the full post reads.

In the post, Mr Trump was referring to the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) or Capital Hill Organised Protest (CHOP) that has been set up by protesters in Seattle.

In the zone, six city blocks have been occupied by protesters for the past two weeks, with police saying they won’t respond to calls from the area unless it is in response to a “mass casualty event” like an active shooter, or a structural fire “likely to endanger human lives”.

In recent days, shootings have occurred within the limits of the occupied zone, killing one man and wounding another.

The protesters cordoned off the area, which included a police precinct, after clashing with officers during protests over the killing of George Floyd.

The area has been criticised by Mr Trump, who has called the protesters in the CHOP “anarchists”.

The move by Twitter is the fourth time the social media company has taken action against the President recently.

The first label placed on one of Mr Trump’s tweets was over a claim he made that mail-in voting ballots in the state of California would lead to voter fraud. Twitter included a link to “get the facts” about mail-in ballots.

Shortly after this, Mr Trump posted a controversial tweet with the phrase “when the looting starts, the shooting starts”. Twitter blocked users from being able to engage with the tweet, saying it violated its policy by glorifying violence.

Last week, Twitter also removed a video shared by Mr Trump from its platform for a breach of music copyright.

Facebook also moved against the US President, removing a set of ads from the Trump campaign team last Friday. 

A source from Facebook told CNN the ads were removed because they resembled symbols used by the Nazi party.
