Truck left dangling from bridge in horror crash
Dashcam footage shows the terrifying moment a truck driver was crashed into before having to be rescued from her vehicle dangling from a bridge.
Horrifying footage shows the moment a truck driver was left dangling off the Clark Memorial Bridge in Kentucky inside her 18-wheeler after a multi-vehicle crash.
The crash happened in March this year, but dashcam footage has recently surfaced online, shocking viewers.
The Sysco truck was left hanging off the side of the bridge for an astounding 45 minutes before the fire department could safely rescue the driver and bring her back to safety.
CBS reported the crash took place shortly after noon and the driver of the truck was not rescued from the cabin until 12.45pm.
About 30 firefighters and emergency personnel were on the scene, while the bridge was closed off to the public.
The rescue operation was conducted using an aerial ladder and pulley system to send one brave firefighter down towards the semi and bring the driver back up to safety.
“She was praying, she was praying a lot and I prayed with her,” firefighter Bryce Carden told CBS, who was lowered off the bridge to rescue the woman stuck inside the truck.
He stated that he had trained for this rescue “more than 1000 times”.
Dashcam footage of the incident reveals that a vehicle crossing the yellow line on the bridge hit the truck and caused it to lose control, flying through the guardrail and dangling above the water.
“I can’t imagine the fear she felt having her life flash before her eyes thinking she was going to go in,” said one reddit user.
“I can’t even imagine what that lady went through. Hats off to the first responders willing to go over the edge to save her. Just wow,” commented one YouTube user on a video showcasing the incredible rescue footage, which looked to be something straight out of a Hollywood movie.
Two patients travelling in one of the vehicles that was involved in the crash were hospitalised, as well as the rescued truck driver, who was in stable condition.
