Wild moment teen hit by Perth bus gets up and apologises
Dramatic dashcam footage shows the moment a teen is hit by a bus in Perth before getting up and apologising.
A teenage girl has survived after being hit by a bus on a busy Perth road.
Dramatic dashcam footage shows the teen and a woman running in between cars trying to cross Great Eastern Highway in Rivervale on Monday afternoon.
After running across four lanes, the pair attempt to stop at the bus lane after seeing an oncoming Transperth bus, Perth Now reports.
The woman manages to stop in her tracks while the teen continues to run — ending up in front of the bus.
The bus driver slams on the brakes before the teen is struck by the front of the vehicle.
The teen slides along the road for several metres before she manages to stand back up.
The woman can be seen rushing to the girl’s side before they wave their hands apologetically at the bus driver.
She is understood to have suffered minor injuries and was taken to Perth Children’s Hospital that afternoon.
Insp. Geoff DeSanges said the incident was an important reminder for the public to safely cross the road.
“It’s shocking to watch. The fact that someone will cross the road like that is incredibly alarming and concerning.
“Without knowing the full circumstances, it’s an exercise in stupidity.
“All due care and attention should be taken when crossing the road, that’s common knowledge to most of us in society, however, it doesn’t appear to be exercised in this instance.”
