Car flips in horror crash

Alarming dashcam footage has captured the moment a car flipped and spun multiple times in the air into oncoming traffic in Melbourne’s southeast last week.

The disturbing crash happened last Wednesday on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway at Aspendale Gardens when a Ford Ranger ute attempted to merge in front of another car.

When the ute crossed into the right-hand lane it hit a Mitsubishi Triton, which caused the ute to be sent flipping into the air.

The ute crossed the barrier on the freeway as it wildly rolled before appearing to land on its side.

Chunks of debris flew from the ute before it moved out of frame with other cars approaching.

The driver, a 36-year-old man, escaped the crash without any serious injuries.

“Paramedics were called to a report of a rollover in Aspendale Gardens on October 5,” an Ambulance of Victoria spokesperson said.

“A man believed to be in his 30s was assessed for abrasions but did not require treatment or transport.”

The man was slapped with an infringement notice by police.

“It is believed a white Ford Ranger was travelling north on the freeway near the Springvale Road overpass when the driver attempted to change lanes just before 9am,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

“The Ford Ranger collided with a brown Mitsubishi Triton, causing the Ford to flip and crash.

“No one was injured.

“The driver of the Ford, a 36-year-old man, received an infringement notice for failing to give way.”
