Truck fire on M1 Pacific Motorway in NSW causes traffic chaos for travellers

A truck fire on a busy motorway in NSW has caused traffic disruption, with travellers warned to expect major delays.

A truck fire on the M1 Pacific Motorway in NSW is causing traffic chaos.

Live Traffic NSW said the hazard was on the motorway approaching Mandalong Rd in Morisset.

Drivers have been warned to factor in extra travel time.

“Motorists are diverted onto the Palmers Rd/Cessnock Rd off-ramp at Ryhope, and can then continue on Cessnock Rd, Awaba Rd, The Boulevarde, Wangi Rd, Main Rd, Dora St and Mandalong Rd to return to M1 Pacific Mwy at Morisset,” Live Traffic NSW said.

Cooranbong Rural Fire Brigade said it had a crew at the scene, along with other units.

“Our pumper is currently attending a truck fire on the M1 just north of Morisset,” they said.

“This is affecting the southbound lanes.

“Please be aware of emergency service vehicles travelling to the job.”
