Truck carrying garlic bread catches fire, causes chaos on M1
The blaze caused traffic chaos during peak hour, with the only positive the great smell as motorists drove past.
Garlic bread may be in short demand on the Gold Coast after a truckload of the carb-heavy entree caught fire on one of Australia’s busiest motorways.
Commuters on the M1 were subjected to significant delays on Monday morning as firefighters tried to contain the blaze.
Crews were called to the southbound lanes at Nerang about 8.30am.
It took three trucks and firefighters 45 minutes to put the blaze out.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the driver of the truck was out of the vehicle when crews arrived.
Drivers are continuing to face delays as authorities try to remove the truck from the roadway.
