Tragedy as woman, 19, killed in Canberra e-scooter crash

A teenage woman has died in a horror e-scooter crash in Canberra, the 12th fatality on ACT roads in 2022.

A 19-year-old woman has died after a collision between the e-scooter she was riding and a car in Canberra.

The tragedy took place in the suburb of Kambah near Drakeford Drive and O’Halloran Circuit on Sunday afternoon.

ACT Policing said the woman was thrown a substantial distance across the intersection following the crash.

She was not wearing a helmet.

Emergency services transported the woman to The Canberra Hospital with serious head and leg injuries.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the teenager died at hospital.

ACT Policing’s Major Collision Team are conducting an investigation into the collision and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Sunday’s incident is the 12th fatality across ACT roads in 2022.
