A person is in a critical condition following a horrific crash on a major Queensland highway involving multiple vehicles and a truck.

A person is in a critical condition following a horrific crash involving multiple vehicles and a truck on the Bruce Highway in North Queensland.

Emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident at Goolboo in the Cassowary Coast region at 12.16pm on Tuesday.

The Bruce Highway is closed and diversions are in place.
