Neighbour’s note on 4WD parked on nature strip sparks debate

A graphic designer who parked his 4WD on the nature strip outside his house was shocked to discover a neighbour had left two notes on his car.

When nasty windshield notes backfire: "fat piece of sh*t”

A graphic designer who parked his 4WD on the nature strip outside his house has shared the two passive aggressive notes a neighbour left on his car.

The Queensland man sparked a heated debate on Facebook after asking whether he was breaking the law by parking his Nissan X-Trail on his front lawn.

“Last night and this morning I received two letters on my car regarding the positioning of my parking,” he wrote in a community page alongside a photo of his car.

“As you can see my car is parked on property? I’m not sure if I’m in the right or not and can continue to park here?”

His post sparked a range of reactions online, with dozens of locals claiming the man was parking illegally and obstructing pedestrians.

“Your car is on the nature strip, which you cannot park on. Also looks like you’re encroaching on your neighbour’s property line which would annoy me too,” wrote one woman.

“You’re parked illegally. Anything past the mailbox is council land and you’re not allowed to park on the nature strip,” added another.

“It’s illegal to park on the footpath… it’s a safety hazard to pedestrians. You can’t even park on your driveway past your property boundary,” agreed a third.

But some residents sided with the 4WD owner, questioning why the neighbour chose to leave an anonymous note instead of addressing the issue in person.

“Neighbours should consider what happens after they complain,” posted one woman.

“Wouldn’t you rather someone park like this than rob you? Come on guys, this world is already crazy let’s all be nice,” added a second.

“Some people just have nothing better to do.”

Others blamed the council for “allowing houses to be built on top of houses on stupidly narrow streets.”

“No you shouldn’t park there, but sometimes what other options do we have?”one resident said.

Queensland road rules state that a driver must not “park or stop on a ... nature strip unless signs tell you otherwise.”
