Man faces multiple charges after fiery crash leaves four in hospital

A man is facing several charges after a scary incident in which the car he was driving allegedly caught fire on a quiet suburban road.

A 21-year-old without a licence and with booze in his system smashed a Ford Falcon into a parked truck, causing “extensive injuries” to himself and three others, police say.

The terrifying crash caused the Falcon to catch fire, leaving the occupants of the car trapped inside.

They were rushed to hospital after being rescued by emergency crews.

The alleged crash happened about 11pm on a residential street in Redbank, a suburb of Ipswich, Queensland on March 18, according to police.

Footage from the morning after the alleged incident shows a large skid mark before the spot where the car allegedly smashed into the truck.

At the time, residents reported seeing a car driving dangerously in the area, hooning and doing burnouts.

“I was doing late-night food delivery last night and had multiple incidents of driving through intersections that where (sic) full of burnout smoke and fresh skid marks. Just about every intersection has evidence of skids in Redbank Plains now,” one Facebook user commented.

Images from social media also show massive amounts of smoke near the scene of the alleged crash.

The alleged incident with the Ford Falcon happened not far from the scene of a horror crash that killed four people, including a 2-year-old girl, in September 2021.

After a months-long investigation, police have charged the driver with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, driving of a motor vehicle without a licence, driving while over the no-alcohol limit but under the general alcohol limit, drive a defective motor vehicle, alter or defacing registration number plates and use or permitting use of vehicle for which number plate altered.

He is due to face the Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 3.
