Major morning traffic queues after multi-vehicle crash on Monash Freeway

A four-vehicle crash on a Melbourne freeway has closed multiple lanes and caused major traffic headaches during morning peak hour.

A four-vehicle crash involving a truck on a Melbourne freeway has caused major traffic headaches, with vehicles banked up for 12 kilometres.

Three inbound lanes of the Monash Freeway were closed at Yarra Boulevard following the collision on Wednesday morning.

Two lanes have been reopened with just the middle lane closed.

There are no reports of injuries.

The incident caused major traffic queues during morning peak hour.

Speed has ben reduced to 40km/h for safety.

One motorist stuck in the standstill traffic around 9am posted his predicted travel time as 90 minutes at the back of the kilometres long queue.

Emergency services are directing traffic into the far right lane.

Motorists are advised to consider using Dandenong Road into the city instead and allow extra travel time.
