Huge traffic delays as Extinction Rebellion protests block West Gate Bridge
Vehicles are barely moving along Melbourne’s West Gate Bridge this morning as brazen protesters block traffic during peak hour.
A climate change rally is causing huge delays on Melbourne’s West Gate Freeway, with protesters targeting the Kings Way exit on Friday morning.
A 17-year-old Extinction Rebellion protester is sitting on top of a six-metre-high steel tripod.
It’s causing chaos for commuter on the West Gate Freeway city-bound.
It comes after a series of disruptions across the city this week, with Extinction Rebellion holding protests every day.
The Department of Transport’s Chris Miller said Friday morning’s protest was the “most impactful” blockage as traffic ground to a halt.
Drivers were advised to take an earlier exit.
