Horror as 13 vehicles pile up, 15 people injured on Pacific Highway, Ourimbah

Fifteen people have been injured after more than a dozen vehicles were involved in a horror incident on a major road between Sydney and Newcastle.

Multiple vehicles have piled up and 15 people have been injured in a horror incident on the highway between Sydney and Newcastle.

Emergency services were called to the M1 at the Pacific Highway off-ramp to Ourimbah, at 8.55am on Tuesday following reports of a crash.

On arrival, NSW Police found two trucks and 11 cars had collided.

NSW Ambulance confirmed 15 people had been injured in the mass crash.

The crash took place on Tuesday morning.

Three men and three women in their 30s and 40s were treated for minor injuries and taken to Gosford Hospital in a stable condition.

UPDATE: If you're travelling north, you can exit the M1 at the Central Coast Hwy and then use the Pacific Hwy to re-join the M1 at the Ourimbah Interchange. Allow plenty of extra time. All southbound lanes open, but motorists slowing as they pass.

Eight further patients were treated and assessed at the scene.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Phil Clark said the crash site covered about 200 metres and required paramedics.

“Despite the large number of patients, they all suffered minor injuries only including cuts,

abrasions and bruising,” he said.

“I commend our paramedic crews for their expert work in triaging and treating the patients.

“Please remain vigilant in wet weather when the roads are slippery and visibility is impacted.”

Police have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

One northbound lane remains closed and all southbound lanes on the motorway remain open.
