Driver’s miraculous survival after needing to be freed from horror crash

A man has miraculously survived a horror crash where the ute he was driving was almost unrecognisable from the impact of the smash.

An Adelaide Hills man is lucky to be alive after the car he was driving crashed into a tree and he needed to be freed from the wreckage.

The driver 42-year-old man from Mount Barker crashed at about 12.40am on Friday along Penna Rd in Macclesfield.

The damage from the smash tore the roof and doors off the Ford Ranger ute, making the vehicle almost unrecognisable.

After the man — who was the only occupant — was freed from the vehicle, he was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.

However, his injuries were miraculously not considered life-threatening.

SA Police in a statement said: “the man is lucky to be alive”.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated.
