Debate rages over who was at fault in QLD T-bone crash

Footage of a “g” T-bone crash has sparked debate online after a driver was filmed pulling out in front of a truck on a Queensland highway.

Debate rages over who was at fault in T-bone

“Frightening” dashcam footage of a car being T-boned on a Queensland highway has sparked a heated debate online, leaving motorists arguing over who was to blame.

The video shows a driver travelling behind a truck in the left hand lane along the Warrego Highway in Crowley Vale, 80km outside of Brisbane.

As the driver continues down the road, the truck is seen indicating before it starts moving across to a turning lane to exit the highway.

However, seconds later the truck appears to slow down, after seemingly being cut off by a blue car from an adjoining road.

“Where the f*** are you going?,” the driver is heard saying as the truck hovers across the turning lane and left-hand lane.

The blue car then emerges out of nowhere continuing to pull out in front of the truck and appearing before the car on the highway.

“F*** me,” the dashcam owner shouts as slams into the blue car in a T-bone collision.

The driver is heard shouting momentarily as the camera jolts backwards and cuts off.

In a caption accompanying the video, the driver claimed the blue car pulled “out in front of truck and myself, I end up drawing short straw and T-bone car”.

The post sparked a mixed reaction online, with fellow motorists arguing over whether the blue car or dashcam owner was primarily to blame.

“[The dashcam driver] is probably at fault … as the truck does have the red and yellow ‘do not overtake turning vehicle’ signs displayed clearly at the rear. These are used for multiple reasons but unfortunately most people ignore them,” one person wrote.

“[The dashcam driver] started overtaking the truck before the truck was completely out of the lane. Should have been patient and stayed behind the truck, or changed lanes,” said another.

Another person wrote: “Truck indicates to turn left. Do not overtake a turning vehicle sign is on the truck. Compounding this a blue vehicle turning across the flow of traffic lanes unsighted. The trucks driving was fine … the other two vehicles need to rethink their driving habits.”

However, many came to the defence of the dashcam owner, suggesting it was the driver in the blue vehicle that shouldn't have turned out into oncoming traffic.

“All the people saying dashcam car should have slowed down and not overtake turning truck … the truck had a turning lane and his original lane, truck did not need the third lane the dashcam car moved into, car pulling out was in the wrong.”

“The car driver (that got T-boned) should have their license revoked first life,” another suggested.

“Why would you pull out in front off a truck and you can’t see what's in other lane. Must have a death wish,” another added.

Others expressed the concern for all the drivers involved in the collision.

“Hope you are ok,” one person wrote.

“How frightening,” said another.

Another concluded: “Hope you are all ok. Some drivers just shouldn't drive.”
