Covid patient begs parking officers not to give them a fine

A Melbourne Covid patient left a note in their car begging parking officers not to issue them a fine while they completed their isolation.

A Covid patient has taken to desperate measures to avoid getting a parking ticket while completing their seven-day mandatory isolation period.

In an ambitious appeal to parking officers that patrol the area surrounding the University of Melbourne in the city’s CBD, the unwell individual left a note in their windscreen.

“Please no ticket. I have Covid,” part of the letter, which also featured a sad face, read.

They then begged parking officers to “have mercy”, and added two kisses in hope of winning them over.

“Thank you,” they wrote at the bottom of the page.

To prove they did in fact have the virus, they also displayed a rapid antigen test in the windscreen with its positive reading visible.

The sad scene was spotted by ABC radio and TV host Patricia Karvelas last week and later shared to Instagram.

“On a parked car. Sad! #covid_19,” Karvelas captioned the post.

The note seemed to cause a stir among followers, with several taking issue with the individual’s belief that a case of Covid should eliminate their adult responsibilities.

“I didn’t realise Covid got people out of paying consequences,” one person wrote in a comment.

“How’s getting Covid and breaking the law related. What a selfish act to do,” another said.

“I can sum this up in one word …. PATHETIC,” a third wrote.

Others were a little more empathetic and stressed the importance of positive cases having access to support.

“Hope the ticket man was kind,” one wrote.

“Yes people are doing it tough, some support is needed,” another said.
